Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-09-16 — Version: 2.0.0

This page explains what Livo collects, why, and how you can delete it. It applies to everyone who uses the Livo app or our websites.

Questions: privacy@livo.africa.

1. Who we are

Livo is a worldwide community app. You pick a community. Inside it you can use a map, eat, events, activities, shopping, a marketplace, local services, and weather.

Livo is operated by its founders, Pierre van Rooyen and Elvera van Rooyen. We have not formed a separate company. We do not pretend Livo is only for one country.

Public sites: livo.town (primary) and livo.africa (same pages, stays live).

Privacy: privacy@livo.africa. Other legal: legal@livo.africa. Help: support@livo.africa.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to run Livo.

When you sign in (Google, or Apple on iPhone):

When you use Livo:

Location (only if you allow it):

Automatically, on the device:

We do not collect government ID numbers, bank or card numbers, biometric data, or data about children under 13.

Map pictures and place names come from open map data. How we may store and credit that map data is a separate matter (MAP-LICENCE). This privacy page does not change that licence.

3. Why we collect it

Purpose What it lets us do
Operate Livo Sign you in, show your community, show listings, let you post
Communicate Push notifications you asked for; replies to support
Reward usage Track points
Keep Livo safe Detect fraud, abuse, fake listings
Improve Livo See which features people use, fix bugs
Comply with the law Respond to a lawful request

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.

4. Legal basis

Your country's privacy and consumer law always applies. We do not pick one country's statute as the identity of Livo.

5. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertising networks or data brokers.

6. How long we keep it

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where the law requires a longer keep.

7. Your rights

You can see the personal information we hold, correct it, delete your account, object to some processing, withdraw consent, get a copy in a common format, and complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Email privacy@livo.africa. We will reply within 30 days.

You can also delete in the app: Settings → Account & Privacy → Delete Account. Public instructions: https://livo.town/account-deletion (same page on livo.africa).

8. Children

Livo is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you think a child has an account, email privacy@livo.africa and we will delete it.

To offer a listing as a business or organiser, you must be 18 or older and allowed to do that under the law where you offer it.

9. Where your data goes

We host Livo on cloud servers. Some of those servers, and some tools we use (sign-in, push, analytics), may be in a different country from you. We use contracts that require those providers to protect your data.

If we change how we host Livo in a way that meaningfully affects this, we will update this page.

10. Security

No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach that affects your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

11. Changes

The current version and date are at the top. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app.
